Angelus seemed to mock Giles as he struck, again and again.
It fueled the vengeance that was consuming him.
His desolate soul burned to follow her; stand with her for eternity.
It only kindled his animus that the thing had desecrated what they had.
Beyond evil; beyond cruelty.
He burned with a malevolence for Angel that disgusted him.
He wanted to watch this creature; stand by his side watching him burn in Hell.
He was saved from such a self-inflicted eternity, unwished for, by his own Slayer.
But from what?
He hated, and that was all he was certain of.
