Five years after I was born their marriage was regarded as illegal in a third of the United States.

47 years ago today, the U.S. Supreme Court released its historic ruling in Loving v. Virginia striking down marriage bans across the nation for interracial couples. Today, we are empowered by Mildred and Richard’s legacy as we fight for marriage equality for all loving gay and lesbian couples.
